‘Artist in Transit’

‘Artist in Transit’ is a public art project undertaken by Visual
Artist Julie Andrews as part of her research into the in-between spaces and
aims to provide an impromptu encounter with ‘art’ through drawing.

The ‘Artist in Transit’ explores the view from the window through
drawing whilst inviting commuters to join in the experience. Julie Andrews provides
quality recycled A5 drawing cards and ink markers to encourage people to take
up the offer to draw, with a focus on the view from the window. Everyone and
everything is welcome, abstract, figurative, scribbles or any form of mark
making. The artist uses a Facebook page, Julie Andrews- Art Page, to document
the project and to share the drawings and the exhibition dates with the people
who participate. The work is anonymous and will be exhibited at several sites
throughout the year where the work on closing will be offered to those who
attend, as a gift from one traveller to another.
